HARWARE
The first piece of hardware we plan to use is a Nikon camera that will be used to capture various shots for my film trailer.
This camera is easy to use and records in good quality, therefore making
my film trailer realistic and professional. The camera will be taken from the
media department at Countesthorpe College and I will have to get a permission
slip signed to cover the cost of replacement if it is damaged whilst we are
using it.
Another piece of hardware we will use is a tripod,
this will also be sourced from Countesthorpe College's media department. We
will attach the video camera to the top of the tripod and then be able to
record the various shots we need by using the tripod handle to manoeuvre the
camera. This will ensure a steady shot is used and it will make our production
look professional.
We will also use a sound/voice recording device to
capture the various types of sound required for the film trailer. The main use
of this piece of hardware will be for voiceovers of shots and for the noise of
the letterbox being opened adding more suspense. Additionally
the device could be used to capture realistic diegetic sound effects such as
wind and doors creaking etc. This piece of hardware
will again be provided by the Countesthorpe College media department.
Lastly , we will use an Apple Mac, provided by the college,
to store all captured footage and afterwards edit it all to create our production.
The Mac will also store all of the software need to edit my main production and
create our ancillary tasks.
SOFTWARE

iMovie and Final Cut = We will use a
combination of both iMovie and Final Cut to edit together the film
trailer. We have experience using iMovie before on previous occasions
and our familiar to the layout and features within the software, it is quick
and easy to use. Final Cut is a more advanced version of iMovie and offers a
more sophisticated and professional edit. It includes colour matching and colour
masking, settings that could increase the professionalism of our production and
make it more professional. Additionally, iMovie has audio editing features
allowing us to edit various sound files for my media production.
Microsoft Word = I will use the word
processing software of Microsoft Word to type up various tasks for my
production, including script and other important documents e.g. shot list and
schedule. This software is available on all computers at Countesthorpe and also
on my laptop at home.
Garage Band = the final piece of software we
may use is Garage Band, used for creating and editing music and sound files. We
struggle with this software as we find it hard to make good music that flows
well. Its only available on apple though.
Free Sound = A good way of acquiring sound for
our production could be through Free Sound, an online piece of software
that allows site goers to upload original sound files that can be used for
others. These sound files are original and are therefore are royalty free, this
software makes acquiring sound easier and more convenient.
Antagonist-
We shall be using these items for the antagonist because they're dark and you cannot see the antagonists face creating a sense of the unknown.
This also makes the antagonist frightening because it removes
the notion of him being human so the protagonist cannot connect

with him.
Protagonist-
The protagonist will be wearing these clothes because
it is what a average person of this age would

wear and as a result makes the character more applicable for the
target audience.
Props-

We shall use the letter which contains a horrifying note letting the protagonist know he is the next target. We shall use the TV for when the protagonist is just waiting being normal when he hears the letterbox go.

TITLE RESEARCH
This was our initial idea for the font we would use
for the title of our film, the typography is fairly bold and clear therefore
will be memorable to the audience and will catch their attention. The style of
font is conventional of other horror films therefore we know it would be
relevant to our film title. In addition it has the style as if someone has wrote it in a panic which is good for our trailer as it is designed to cause panic to the audience and protagonist.
This font
is similar to the last one however it is much more enhanced and clearer for the
audience to read. This one is lower down on fonts we would use as it is too bold and looks like cartoon writing, however it does follow some of the conventions that horror font should have such as being bold and scary. The font is sans serif and is also conventional to other film
title fonts for example Insidious.
The font above similar to the previous title it is bold so once again it will stand out to our target audience. The text itself isn’t as clear because of the splatters coming off of the text that could be used to connote blood if the colour of the text would be changed to red. This would be a convention to other horror films as well and would work well with our production it would also be eye catching and frightening because of the blood effect t as if someone has written it with their own blood or someone else's.
This font is different from some of the others we have evaluated as it has closer characteristics to a serif font and the text isn't bold however the use of the flicks at the end of each letter makes the text more unique and unconventional for other horror films. This font could work to our advantage because it is quite scruffy and reminds me of tree branches to some extent which works well with a horror production because woods are affiliated with horror.
MODEL RELEASE FORM
We only needed one release form because the rest of our actors are members of our group and so do not need to sign a release form.
We decided to use Daniel because he is perfect for a small cameo appearance in our trailer as he has experience at acting in other people's productions and has done an exceptional job. In addition to this Daniel is a keen media student and knows his media terms and how to get the best out of production and if he feels by adding something it will improve the production then he will voice his opinion to help us produce a better quality piece.
This is our risk assessment, this was necessary as we need to explore all situations which could cause harm to us and our actors. By doing this we can reduce the risk of any injuries on set and therefore will be less likely to get sued for any harm that they suffer as the risks are very low.
LOCATION SHOTS
We have chosen this alley way to record footage as it is secluded and is a some what scary location. I believe that it makes a good place to film as you never know who may be following you and nobody could witness anything that goes on.
We have used this room to film as it will make it more realistic to the audience to see the protagonist unaware that someone is watching them.
This location will be used as a terrifying note gets pushed through the door notifying the protagonist that they are in real danger.
This shall be used for a shot which will make the audience feel shocked as they will see the antagonist and then he will no longer be there. This makes the audience wonder if they were imagining it or was it for real.
This will be used when the protagonist is unaware that they are being watched as the antagonist creeps up lurking in the distance.
We have chosen this location because it has an uninhabited and remote feel which is a good place for a horror as no one can hear you scream. If a piece of our film was filmed here it would be good as the audience would know that the protagonist was in real danger.
Poster Draft-
This is a draft poster that I have drawn out to give us an idea of how we want our poster to look like. I think this is generally a good layout for the poster as it highlights the main points of a poster that will influence the audience to watch it. The enigma makes the audience question who it is that is watching them, the antagonist strikes fear into them and makes them want to see him in action and the title obtains focus as it is bold and stands out.
MAGAZINE DRAFT-
This is a good basis for a magazine cover as it has a good main image which attracts attention and lets the audience know what is going on in the magazine. It also employs some good elements that are essential in magazines. However for our main magazine we will need to improve some things, for example the 'Empire' masthead needs to fill the whole magazine whilst more plugs need to be included to let the reader know that there are more stories if they're not interested in the main one. I think that our magazine would benefit from some buzz words as they help to boost the magazine status, in addition by adding a pull quote this will help to influence the audience to buy the magazine as it gives them an insight to the story. We should probably include a strapline as this boosts the magazines ego and makes the audience believe its true for example 'The best movie magazine'.
BRAND IDENTITY
FILM RESEARCH INTO SOUND
This could be
used for a stalking scene as it helps to build up suspense and creates a
sense of foreboding e.g. something is watching.
This could be
placed over the top of a scene where the protagonist finds a dead body or the
antagonist’s lair and is extremely shocked.
This is meant to
be a door opening slowly and could be used if the protagonist is hiding and
hears the door creak. However this does not sound authentic as it is an obvious
use of Foley sound.

through the letterbox.

The antagonist is

running down the underpass at some speed consistently checking over his
shoulder. It is then revealed he is doing this because the hooded figure/ antagonist

knows that he will catch SULLIVAN no matter what.

SULLIVAN is upstairs
in his bedroom when he gazes out of his window only to see the mysterious
antagonist on the driveway. Shocked SULLIVAN thrashes the curtains across in
